You’ll meet your driver at your Nairobi hotel mid-morning and leave the city behind, watching the landscape open into the Rift Valley as stories of the Mara set the tone for your week. The drive is lively and full of small stops — a picnic lunch en route and a short visit to a local craft market if time allows.
Arrive at your family-friendly lodge in the late afternoon, settle into your rooms, and head out on your first afternoon game drive where kids can spot their first zebra and giraffe as the sun softens across the plains.
Meals: Lunch / Dinner
Transport: 4x4 safari vehicle (Nairobi → Maasai Mara).

Wake before dawn for a gentle early-morning game drive when predators and plains herds are most active; we’ll keep the pace relaxed so children and grandparents can enjoy short, comfortable stops. After a cooked breakfast back at the lodge, there’s a late-morning storytelling session that teaches kids about the Mara’s wildlife and conservation.
In the afternoon you’ll visit a nearby Maasai village for a short cultural exchange and bead-making demo — a warm, supervised meeting designed for families to learn respectfully and take home a handmade keepsake. Evening tea and a relaxed dinner back at the lodge cap the day.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Transport: Short game drives in 4x4.

Today is about immersion: two leisurely game drives (early morning and late afternoon) with a picnic lunch option on the plains so you can maximize wildlife time while children nap or sketch animals in a safari journal. Our guide will offer family-friendly explanations of animal behavior, helping kids feel like junior rangers.
Late afternoon, return to lodge for pool time or a guided nature walk along a safe, marked trail — a gentle way for little legs to stretch and for everyone to watch birds and smaller wildlife up close.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner. Transport: 4x4 game drives.

After breakfast, depart the Mara and drive north toward the Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Nakuru in time for a relaxed lunch with views of the soda lake and its birdlife. The afternoon includes a first short game drive in Nakuru National Park to look for flamingos by the shore and rhinos in the woodland — a compact park ideal for family viewing.
Evening at your lodge offers a bird-watching primer for kids and an early bedtime option for families needing it.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Transport: 4x4 vehicle (Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru).

Start with an early game drive if the family wants one, focusing on rhino hides and scenic viewpoints, then transfer to Lake Naivasha after brunch. Arrive at Naivasha for a peaceful afternoon boat trip on the lake — the ride is calm and wonderful for children to spot hippos from a safe distance and to see fish eagles and cormorants.
Following the boat, enjoy a guided walk on Crescent Island (a flat, predator-free sanctuary) — kids can walk among antelope and learn about the lake’s ecology while guides keep the pace easy.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Transport: 4x4 vehicle (Lake Nakuru → Lake Naivasha).

This is a longer travel day with breaks: depart after breakfast and head southeast toward Amboseli, stopping for short refreshments and scenic photos en route so it’s comfortable for all ages. The landscape will change from highland farms to wide savannah, building excitement as Kilimanjaro slowly reveals itself on the horizon.
Arrive in Amboseli late afternoon and take your first short game drive in the park for an introduction to the large elephant herds that the area is famed for, with sunset views of Kilimanjaro if the weather cooperates.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Transport: 4x4 vehicle (Lake Naivasha → Amboseli).
Two family-friendly game drives today let you watch elephant family groups, large plains game and abundant birdlife against the iconic Kilimanjaro backdrop; drives are scheduled around the best light and animal activity, with plenty of breaks. There’s a short cultural visit option to a local Maasai community focused on elder storytelling and a gentle nature walk for children.
Return to the lodge for a relaxed final safari dinner where we’ll share a family photo slideshow of the week — a sweet way to reflect and celebrate the journey together.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Transport: 4x4 game drives.

After a final early-morning birdwatching drive or a relaxed breakfast, we’ll depart Amboseli for the drive back to Nairobi, arriving mid-afternoon for your onward flights or extra Nairobi nights. If time allows, stop at an arts & crafts centre for last-minute souvenirs and a final chance to support local artisans.
Drop-off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel; our guide will assist with luggage and airport check-in. End of services.
